Faithe Guernsey's Obituary
Faithe Guernsey, age 99, of Moulton, IA, died Friday, January 16, 2004, at Centerville Care & Rehab Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of John Ralph and Bessie (Cloud) Stephenson on May 31, 1904 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in 1923 and later, Iowa Wesleyan College in 1927 with a teaching degree.On June 20, 1937, Faithe was united in marriage to John H. Guernsey in Bloomfield, Iowa. She taught school for 32 years and retired in 1960. She was a member of the Moulton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, United Methodist Women, Retired Teachers Association and National Education Association.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John H. Guernsey; sister, Fama Stephenson-Harvey; brother, John Stephenson and nephew-in-law, John Hamann.Faithe is survived by: Nieces, Betty Hamann of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Sarah Stephenson of Anchorage, Alaska; nephew, John Stephenson III of Spoken, Washington; step-daughters, Mildred Guernsey and Ruby Ruthinberg both of Mentor, Ohio; sister-in-law, Catherine Stephenson.Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2004, at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa, with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa.
