Evelyn L. Metcalfe's Obituary
Evelyn L. Metcalfe, age 89, of Crown Point, Indiana and a former Mystic, Iowa resident, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Wittenberg Lutheran Village in Crown Point, Indiana. She was born the daughter of Merle and Ella (Shenhan) Dicks on August 17, 1919 in Iconium, Iowa. She received her education in a rural Appanoose country school and later would attended Beauty School.On May 18, 1940, Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert Metcalfe in Centerville, Iowa. She was a Bookkeeper for a time at Farris Automotive and a Beautician. She was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, Iowa and a member of both the Highland Cemetery Association and Flower Club in Mystic, Iowa as well as a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Robert Metcalfe on March 15, 1985; and a brother, Rex Dicks.Evelyn is survived by: her sons, Gary and his wife, Dianne Metcalfe of Dyer, Indiana and Ronald and his wife, Judy Metcalfe of Trafalgar, Indiana; sisters, Beulah Farris of Whiting, Indiana and Marie Blue of Peoria, Illinois; six grandchildren and Ten great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery west of Mystic, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home. A Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday.Memorials can be made to either the Drake Avenue Christian Church or to the Highland Cemetery Association and can be left at the funeral home.
