Eva A. Valentine's Obituary
Eva A. Valentine, 87, of Rock Island, Ill., passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at her home.
Eva Polich was born on August 16, 1921 in Brazil, Iowa, a daughter of Mike and Mary Tomich Polich. She married John J. Valentine on October 12, 1946 in Centerville.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island and its Altar Society. Eva was also a member of the Croatian Crest Club, Moline and Moline American Legion Post 246 Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts. Survivors include her husband, John; son, Wayne A. Valentine, Rock Island and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Angela; brothers, John, Joe and William Polich; and sisters, Goldie Radosevich and Mildred Campbell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where St Mary's Altar Society will recite a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Additional visitation is 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Oakland Cemetery with Fr. Dennis Schaab officiating in Centerville, Iowa. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, or to Alleman High School, Rock Island and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville.
