Eva M. Osborn's Obituary
Eva M. Osborn, age 96, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, December 14, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Frank and Anna (Cochran) Roby on November 24, 1907 in Mystic, Iowa. She graduated from Mystic Community Schools. Eva was united in marriage to Claude Osborn of Centerville on October 26, 1927, and they moved to Illinois, several miles west of Chicago, until they retired in the mid-1960's. It was always Claude's dream to have a small farm, so after retirement they returned to the Centerville area and purchased an 80 acre farm north of Promise City, where they were visited many times over the years by their children and grandchildren. They remodeled an older home, grew corn, raised a few head of cattle, a milk cow, and even a few hogs, plus had a huge garden. They were members of the First Christian Church of Seymour, Iowa and Eva was quite active in the weekly dinners held by the Church and enjoyed by hundreds of people for so many years. Their retirement years were a pleasure for them both until Claude suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack in December 1979. Eva was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Claude Osborn; son, Donald Osborn in 1932 and daughter, Karen Osborn in 1944 both at the age of 2 years; 2 sisters, Mabel Detwiler and Esta Logston; 3 brothers, Carl, Floyd and Ira Roby. Surviving family members are: 2 daughters, Dorothy C. Schultz and her husband, Robert of Centerville and Sandra Femali of Des Plaines, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Cynthia (Ronald) Huster of Aurora, Illinois; Donald (Carol) Schultz of Plano, Iowa; Michael (Kari) Schultz of Leawood, Kansas; Rick Femali of Silvas, Illinois and Mark Femali of Centerville; 8 great grandchildren; Lauren Huster, Nathan, Melissa, Donald and Stephanie Schultz and Jessica, Brett and Will Schultz.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 11:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Pastor Dewayne Lawson of Seymour Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa.Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville.
