Eugene Newell Engle's Obituary
Eugene Engle, 44 of Mystic, passed away on November 8, 2021 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Eugene Newell Engle was born September 26, 1977 in Centerville, Iowa to the late Jack Engle and Melody (Sease) Engle.
Eugene was born with spina bifida and the doctor said that there was a 95% chance that he would be in a wheel chair. He surprised everyone and learned to walk with the help of braces. When he was 5 years old, the doctor said that we would have to allow them to break his legs. We went to God in prayer, and as a result, his doctor asked us what we had done because he didn't need to have his legs broken. To God be the glory! Eugene experienced many operations during his lifetime. His disability never kept him from learning to ride a bike, though, which he rode to go fishing. Like his dad, he loved the thrill of a fighting fish and being outside.
Eugene had a sense of humor and loved to tease anyone he could, especially his Uncle Kevin when we held our family's Christmas party. He would try to slip him awful tasting jelly beans and then act innocent when he was looked at.
Eugene loved the Lord. He gave his heart and life to Jesus at the age of 4. Eugene loved people and the Lord used him as an intercessor to pray for them. Sometimes he would be up until the wee hours of the morning praying for someone.
Eugene helped his dad in the churches he pastored. He was the sound man and was very picky about the sound of music coming through the speakers.
Eugene was preceded in death by his dad, Jack, nephew Devyn, his grandparents and other loved ones. Left to miss him are his mom, Melody, his sisters, Brandy of Roseville, California, and Teri of Mystic, his brother, John and his nieces, Makayla of Brazil and Gianna of Roseville, California, his church family, and his fishing buddy, Tom.
Celebration of Life service for Eugene and his father, Jack, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Ron Bohall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family, and condolences can be shared at www.thomasfh.com and www.facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
