Ethel Clydine Birkland's Obituary
Ethel Clydine Birkland, 90 of Omaha and formerly of Allerton passed away, Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.
Clydine was born to Clyde & Ethel (Cook) Wray on November 18, 1931 in Allerton. She received her education from Allerton High School, graduating in 1950. Clydine was baptized in the Allerton Lake and gave her life to Jesus at the age of 12. She went on to teach, Sunday school, Bible School, and played piano for church services for many years.
Clydine was united in marriage to Kenneth Murrow on December 16, 1953. To this union, one child was born; Kemmy. She later married Harold Birkland after being widowed for 20 years and raising her daughter. Clydine had three step sons: Richard, Randy and Rodney Birkland. Clydine enjoyed her time with her step sons and their families; especially having grandchildren stay the night and playing games.
Clydine worked as an insurance clerk for many years. Some of her greatest pleasures were snuggling a baby, playing with great grandchildren, playing with kittens and puppies and being outside. She also liked gardening and reading. Clydine was a sweet gentle lady with a deep faith in the lord.
Survivors include her daughter, Kemmy Claude (Tracy), stepsons: Richard Birkland, Randy Birkland (Michele), Rodney Birkland (Toni), grandchildren: Amanda (Casey), Daniel (Chelsea), Angela (Kenny), Doug, Scott, Adam, Joseph, Whitney, Nicole (Shane), Bill (Kyleigh) and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Kenneth Murrow, Harold Birkland, brother, Charles Wray, sister-in-law, Coleen Wray, brother-in-law, David Murrow (Janet), sister-in-law, Edna Brown (Dwight), brother-in-law, James Birkland (Louise), son-in-law, Kenneth Duncan, in-laws, Rondel Murrow (Vera), John Birkland (Verda) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Allerton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon from 1-7:00 pm, with family present from 5-7:00 pm.
