Esther Murl Lee's Obituary
Ester 'Murl' Lee age 90, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Homer and Amy (Stevens) Bankson on April 23, 1919 in rural Udell, Iowa. Ester attended school in Unionville, Iowa would later received her GED.Murl worked as a nurse's aid in the hospital in Davenport, Iowa and also at the Luse Nursing Home in Centerville, Iowa. She was married to Pearl Crowder and later divorced, she then married Harry Peek and later divorced, she married William Lee and later divorced. She was an ordained minister and attended the House of Prayer church in Centerville.She is preceded in death by: her parents; daughters, Peggy Coady and Sherry VanderEcken; son. Jerry Crowder; grandchildren, Richie Agan and Benjamin Forney; great grandson, Casey Moser.Murl is survived by: sons, Larry Peek and Johnny Lee both of Unionville, Missouri; daughters, Diona Crowder of Centerville, Iowa, Carolyn Agan and her husband, Carl of Centerville, Iowa, Sandra Stankee and her husband Paul of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Dixie Agan and her husband, Danny of Centerville, Iowa, and Jennifer Golic of Unionville, Missouri, 39 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Joe Hayes and Gary Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm with the family present.Memorials can be made to the family and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
