Erma Hazel Boswell Obituary's Obituary
Erma Hazel Ellis Boswell, went to be with her Lord September 22, 2013 at the Wayne County Hospital. She was 98 years old. Erma was born January 7, 1915 at the home of her parents Charles and Lucy Richmond Ellis, near Humeston, Iowa. She attended several country schools. June 22, 1935 she married Glen Boswell. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage. Glen passed away in 1991. One child, Ray, was born January 26, 1939, and died at birth. Erma worked at restaurants and helped others in their time of need. She worked side by side with Glen on the farm with livestock and crops. Glen and Erma both enjoyed nature. They moved to Rockford, Illinois where Erma worked in a factory as a coil winder for 26 years. They moved back to Corydon, Iowa in 1977. When she was young she was active in 4-H. She joined the Bethany Rebekah Lodge in 1944, holding many offices. Erma volunteered at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center for 14 years. Martha Hughes and Erma enjoyed lots of bus trips together. She kept busy by doing word search, sudoku, piecing quilts by hand, and reading Christian books. Erma lived by faith and loved life. She was an example of what a good Christian should be. She was active in her church, always helping wherever there was a need. Preceding her in death were her parents Charles and Lucy Ellis, her husband Glen and infant son Ray. She was the last member of the family. Brothers and sisters preceding her in death were Bernice, Bill, Howard, an infant sibling, Charley, Larry and Mike. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Howard and Evelyn Evitt whom she considered family, and a host of friends. We thank the Lord for the precious life of Erma.
