Equilla F. Duley's Obituary
Equilla Florence Duley, age 95, of Moulton, Iowa, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Alonzo and Cordelia (Ellison) Morrison on February 5, 1916 in Roy, Missouri. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1935, and would later attend both Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri to get her Teaching Degree. She would also continue her education while living in California for a time.She was first united in marriage to Roy Marvin in Centerville, Iowa in 1936; then on September 20, 1947, Equilla was united in marriage to Charles Ralph Duley in Centerville, Iowa. She was a school teacher for a time, also worked as a clerk for the HyVee Store in Centerville, Iowa and was also involved in real estate sales and work for the Department of Water Resources while living in California. When she returned to Appanoose County, she worked as a Social Worker for a time. She was very active member of the Moulton United Methodist Church where she served as Vice-President of the women's club, the Royal Neighbors, Community Betterment, Lions Club and American Legion Auxiliary all in Moulton and earlier she was one of the first woman members of Toastmasters International while in California. She enjoyed writing an occasional column in the Centerville Iowegian, Moulton Tribune and the Ottumwa Courier, entitled; 'Living In A Small Town'.She is preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Roy Marvin in 1942 and Charles Duley on August 30, 1995.She is survived by: her sons, Ed Duley and his wife, Trish of Cave Creek, Arizona, Bob Duley and his wife Annette of Gilbert, Arizona and Jim Marvin and his wife, Gail of Salina, Kansas; a daughter, Ruth Hargrave and her husband, John of Moulton, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; half sisters, Barbara Heartley of Kingman, Arizona and Kathleen Carlson of Vancouver, Washington Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11 am at the Moulton United Methodist Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa from 1 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 6 until 7 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the Garrett Public Library or to the Moulton First Responder and left or mailed to the funeral home.
