Enid I. Walker's Obituary
Enid Ilene Walker was born June 2, 1922 in Appanoose County, Iowa to Franklin Levi OConner and Cecil Faye Espy OConner. She passed away at the Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines on January 18, 2019 at 96 years of age.
After graduating from Centerville High School and teaching in several one-room schools, she was united in marriage to Milo Lee Walker on May 16, 1942.
To this union four children were born-Sonny Dean (Lois) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Debra Lee (Ted Welch, deceased), of Alleman, Iowa; Cecil Jewell (Marvin Wright) of Altoona, Iowa; and Milo Brent (Cindy) of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Enid was a busy farmers wife who perfected the art of raised doughnuts and never met a jigsaw puzzle she couldnt solve. She was always active in her church whether she was teaching a class, playing the organ, or organizing a church dinner.
Preceding her in death were her husband of fifty five years, her parents, two brothers-Kenneth OConner and Norris OConner-and two sisters-Marjorie Paxston and Manilla Boyer, one granddaughter, Whitney Dawn Welch, and one son-in-law, Ted Welch.
Enid is survived by her four children, 15 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews. These people will treasure an inheritance of fond memories, an example of a godly, Christian lady, and a knowledge that we will meet together once again in heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Unionville Baptist Church, Unionville, Iowa, with Pastor Sonny Walker leading the service. Burial will follow in the Eaton Cemetery, near Unionville. A visitation will take place on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Family of Enid Walker to be determined at a later date and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
