Enid Kirby's Obituary
Enid Ellen Dixon Kirby died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa. Enid was born September 20, 1931 in Davis County, Iowa, the daughter of Frances Ellen Alexander Dixon and Jesse Olen Dixon. She married Bert Neal Kirby on December 24, 1948 in Mystic, Iowa. Enid worked at St. Joseph Hospital for a short time, then worked as School Board Secretary of Moulton-Udell Community Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1996. Enid was a hard worker and helped her husband on the farm until his death in 2003. In her early years, she and Bert enjoyed square dancing. Enid made her own square dance dresses, and Bert often called the dances. They also enjoyed CB Club, and getting together with neighbors. Enid enjoyed sewing, crafting with ceramics, latch hook rugs and macram. She had a green thumb and her home and yard were covered with flowers of many varieties. Family was first with Enid. She is survived by sons: Sam Kirby (Sheila), Jim Kirby (Rita), daughter, Vicki Pace (Winston), brothers: Walter Dixon, Mike Dixon, nine grandchildren: Jeff Kirby (Kristy), Joni Hutchinson (Kris), Julie Stickler (Mikal), Jesse Kirby, Jared Kirby (Chrissy), Jill Anderson (Adam), Brandon Pace (Dana), Eric Pace (Malissa), Kimberly Lawson (Dustin) and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bert Kirby, brother, Max Dixon, sisters: Ava Nell Miller, Nancy Harbour and great granddaughter, Ava Hutchinson. Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Friday, November 23, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Friday from 9:30-10:30 am.
