Emma Irene Mericle's Obituary
Emma Irene Mericle of Centerville, Iowa passed away at the age of 69 at Golden Age Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 29, 1953 in Centerville, Iowa to Clifford and Florene Wells. She was the youngest of six siblings: Rosie Stevens, Barbra Garr, Kathy Hill, Jerry Wells, Eli Wells, and Johnnie Wells.
She was united in marriage to John Mericle in Mystic, Iowa on December 31, 1994. He was her "King of Kings". She, John and her son, Scott, made their home in Mystic until John's death. She and Scott then moved to Centerville, Iowa. Emma had been an CNA and was a longtime employee of Proffitt's Residential Care until she could no longer work.
Emma collected pigs and enjoyed growing cactuses. She was an avid crocheter until her hands wouldn't cooperate. She enjoyed watching old westerns, reading a good mystery, and playing games on her Kindle. Her constant companion and best friend, was her much loved Chihuahua, Taz; until she moved to Golden Age. She loved spending time with family and her many friends she made at Every Step Hospice and Golden Age Care Center. She was often heard telling her family, favorite CNA's and Nurses, she loved them. She was always ready for a cup of coffee or 7-Up, a cigarette, and to give anyone a hard time that would give her a hard time back.
She is survived by her son: Scott Wells and her dog Taz. Sisters: Rosie (Donnie) Stevens and Janie Myers (bonus sister); Brothers: Eli Wells and Johnnie Wells; Niece and Nephew: Jody Wells-Spurgeon and John Wells. She has several nieces and nephews she holds close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Florene Wells. Husband, John Mericle. Brother, Jerry (Peggy) Wells. Sisters: Barbara (Edward) Garr and Kathy (Dickie) Hill and Niece, Crystal Buffington.
Per Emma's wishes cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
