Emily R. Stuart's Obituary
Emily R. Stuart, age 76, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at ManorCare in West Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Emil B. and Myrtle (Stark) Read on August 22, 1937 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from the Centerville Community High School in 1955 and then attended AIB in Des Moines, Iowa and received a degree in Stenography.On May 20, 1956, Emily was united in marriage to Harold 'David' Stuart in Centerville, Iowa. She first worked at Centerville City Hall for a time, then in 1965, began working at Iowa Trust & Savings Bank in Centerville for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering for the church. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi and the Hospital Auxiliary both in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Harold Dave Stuart on December 5, 2011.Emily is survived by: her son, Bill Stuart of West Des Moines, Iowa; her sisters, Pat Brunsberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Marlys Cook of Clive, Iowa.Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial of ashes will be following at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held from 12 pm until the time of services at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the South Central Iowa Chapter of National Alliance of Mental Illness or HCI (Hospice of Central Iowa) Care Services and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
