Elsie Colleen Daugherty's Obituary
Colleen Daugherty departed from earth to return to the holy kingdom on September 28,2021. Colleen was born November 22, 1942 to Frank and Elsie Morrison Thomasson, in Allerton, Iowa.
She attended and graduated as the last class to graduate at Cincinnati High School in 1961. On May 25, 1963 she married her longtime friend and love, Vernon Daugherty. Vernon was later stationed in Germany where he and Colleen lived and welcomed their first child Perry Daugherty. After Vernon's release from the army, they returned to the Numa, Iowa area where they welcomed another child Tracy Daugherty. They began farming and building their home on a piece of land in Centerville close to Colleen's family farm.
Colleen had many qualities. She was an amazing mother to her children, and grandmother to grandkids. She was even able to be the great grandmother to two. She was known to be one of the greatest cattle women in the county, sharing her knowledge with anyone. She drove grain trucks, tractors, and much more around the farm helping Vernon create something to leave future generations.
In 1998 Colleen was diagnosed with an uncommon disease known as Systemic Sclerosis. Over the years she worked with one of the best hospitals and research clinics helping them discover things about this disease. She was proud to help future generations in any way she could.
Colleen was always adamant about her faith. She was baptized and saved by the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. She instilled her faith into her children and grandchildren. Her only wish for anyone is that they knew and believed in the word of the holy bible, and that we all make the world better for the following generations.
Colleen is survived by her husband Vernon Daugherty, her two children Perry (Kim) Daugherty and Tracy Daugherty. As well as her eight grandkids, Caelan, Savannah, and Brier Daugherty, Sara (Austin) Moorman, Amanda Howard, Anna (Tyler) Gray, Emily (Daniel) Grice, and her namesake, Kennedy Colleen Miller. And most recently two great grandsons, Windell Grice and Anderson Gray.
She was proceeded in death by both of her parents Frank and Elsie Thomasson, and both of her In-Laws Lenard and Edna Daugherty.
