Elouise Gardner's Obituary
Elouise Jewel (Walter) Gardner, age 92 of Moravia, Iowa died Thursday evening, December 26, 2013 at the Monroe County Hospital, Albia, Iowa.
Elouise was born February 24, 1921 in Walnut City, Iowa the daughter of Mearl and Blanche (Minor) Walter. She married Marvin Gardner August 21, 1938. Elouise graduated from Moravia High School and owned Gardner Hatchery in Moravia. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, playing the organ and volunteering at the nursing home. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia and the Moravia American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by Marvin; four children, Yvonne (Paul) Horel of Olathe, KS, Rita (Maurice) Paradis of Kensington, Connecticut, Linda (Paul) Witt of Centerville, Dennis (Jennifer) Gardner of Moravia; 13 grandchildren, Tracy Pfannebecker, Todd Pfannebecker, Michael Pfannebecker, Aaron Gosselin, Janis Gosselin, Rodney Witt, Denise DeBruin, Carie Marienau, Julie Clark, Kira Omelchenko, Samuel Horel, Mari Horel, Alex Horel; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Carolyn Van Dorin of Albia, Iowa, Maxine Simmons of Hinsdale, IL, Annabelle Wilson of Sycamore, IL.
Elouise was preceded in death by her parents, Mearl and Blanche Walter; sisters, Zola and Oraleta Walter; four brothers, Mearl Dean Walter, Loren Walter, Maurice Walter and Aubrey Walter.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 3-5 PM at the Lange Funeral Home, Moravia, Iowa. Burial will take place at a later date. A memorial has been established to Moravia Senior Citizen Meals or the Moravia Fire Department and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 103 North John St., Moravia, Iowa 52571.
