Eloise Darlene DeVore's Obituary
Eloise Darlene DeVore age 80 of Centerville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday September 23, 2010. She was born on September 20, 1930 near Plano, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Dorothy (Seath) Bailey. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savoir at the age of 16, was baptized and became a member of the Plano Christian Church. She graduated from Centerville High School in the class of 1947. On October 25, 1986 she was united in marriage to Ralph Carleous DeVore in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked for many years at Iowa Southern Utilities in Centerville and attained the position of executive secretary to the president. She was a 50 year member of the Irene Chapter 414 of the Order of Eastern Star. Eloise acquired her love of music from her father and was asked to sing at many weddings, funerals and church gatherings. She acquired her love of people from her mother and always had a smile, a kind word and the time to visit with the people that she met. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Ralph Carleous, two brothers, Wendell Bailey of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ron Bailey of Plano, Iowa; Five nephews, Scott Bailey and Tim Bailey both of Lincoln, Nebraska, Doug Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa, Travis Bailey of Ottumwa, Iowa and Lucas Bailey of Sedalia, Missouri. Two great nieces and three great nephews. A celebration of Eloise's life will be held on Tuesday,September 28, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor David Welch and Pastor Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery near Plano. Visitation will be held on Monday,September 27, 2010 from 1 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm and an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 pmA memorial has been established to the Plano Christian Church or the First Methodist Church of Centerville and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
