Elnora Jeanette Sheehan's Obituary
Elnora Sheehan, 85, of Unionville, MO passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Putnam County Care Center.
Elnora was born September 14, 1940, in Newtown, MO, the daughter of Dewight Howard and Mary Howard Way. She attended school in Newtown. In November of 1962 she married Paul Montgomery. To this union, 3 children were born, Sandi (Richard) Davis, Diane (the late Rob) Hollon, and Tim (Valerie) Montgomery. On June 24, 1988, she married the love of her life Melvin Sheehan.
Elnora enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a sweet and loving woman who selflessly raised her 3 children on her own for most of their lives. She worked hard to support them and ensure they were cared for. She worked in the clinic with Dr. Judd as a cleaner. She worked at Caseys for many years. She worked at McGraw Edison and later in life worked as a cook at the Putnam County Senior Center where she retired after many years.
She loved having her family close and doted on all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She watched Murder Mysteries around the clock. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and told us this helped her to keep her mind young. She spent hours in the garden and canning, enjoying the fresh air and fresh vegetables her and Melvin grew together and loved to teach others about the garden. She was a member of the Broadlawn Baptist Church where she attended until her and Melvin could no longer easily get out and around. For many years, even after retirement, she volunteered her time at the Putnam County Senior Center as a driver for those without transportation. Until very recently she served on the Putnam County Senior Tax Board. Even after she could no longer attend in person, they would call her during the meetings to have her in attendance. She was a very loving, kind person who enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and a long visit anytime of the day.
Elnora is survived by her children, her grandchildren Debbie Shifflett, Brad (Eva) and Jason Hollon: Steven, Skylor and Cory Montgomery: Toni Weekley, and Katie Davis, her great grandchildren Marshall, Jordan, Waden, Addison, Jackson, Nora June, Hunter, Artemis, Anastasia, Jarvis Leon, Evangeline, Alec and Jeremy. She also survived by her stepdaughter Connie Sheehan, Step son-in-law Dennis Harlan, step grandchildren Nikki (Jason) Hill, Richie (Kiefer) Sheehan and Blair Scott and step great grandchildren Caden Hill and Avery Scott. She is survived by one sister, Billy Jo Gibbs and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Elnora in death were her parents, her husband and love of her life, Melvin Sheehan, brother David Howard, sister Doreen, brother in law Sonny Gibbs, son in law Rob Hollon, Grandsons Joshua and David Davis, stepdaughter Tammy Sheehan and step granddaughter Codi Sheehan.
Funeral services for Elnora will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville. Visitation will take place one hour prior, from 10:00 - 11:00 am. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the PC Café and Resource Center and may be entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St. Unionville, MO 63565.
