Elmer Vernon Speirs' Obituary
Elmer Vernon Speirs, age 59, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home.
Elmer was born on May 16, 1960, the son of Elmer Lew Speirs and Sylvia May (Knowles) Speirs. He was united in marriage to Kathy Foss in 1988. The couple was later divorced in 2004.
Elmer held various jobs throughout his lifetime. He worked at Jef-Scot Metal Industries, The Smoke Shop, a rehabilitation center in Quincy, Illinois, and also helped build fence with Farmers in the Bloomfield area.
Elmer enjoyed fishing, and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Left to honor Elmers memory are his siblings, Renea (Michael) Thompkins of Moravia, Iowa Henry "Hank" Speirs (Patricia Cooprider) of Centerville, Iowa, Tina (Stephen) Powers of Quincy, Illinois; an honorary daughter, Elma Mae Pharis; fourteen nieces and nephews, Maurice (Amber) Speirs of Newton, Iowa, Robbie (Danielle) Tasco of Centerville, Iowa, Samantha (Stephen) Powers of Quincy, Illinois, Brandy Friday of Quincy, Illinois, Kenneth Speirs of Lewistown, Missouri, Henry (Marlayna) Speirs II of Quincy, Illinois, Destiny Speirs, Isaiah Speirs, Kamden Speirs, Teagan Speirs, Lincoln Selk, Henry Speirs III, Josiah Speirs, and Dale (Daylana) Brooks; great niece and nephew, Jaydah Weldon and Jrayah Weldon of Quincy, Illinois; as well as many friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Sylvia Speirs; his ex-wife, Kathy Foss; and his grandparents.
According to family wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced in the near future.
