Ellen Lenore Davis' Obituary
Ellen Lenore Davis, age 79, of Centerville, Iowa died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Charles and Tina (Stufflebeam) Johnson on November 21, 1928. She graduated from Unionville Community Schools. On March 31, 1951, Ellen was united in marriage to Fred H. Davis in Unionville, Iowa. She worked as a nurses aid for St. Joseph and Mercy Hospital for ten years. She was a member of the Unionville Methodist Church. She enjoyed her time at the Rathbun Music Theater, where she helped out selling tickets and anything else that needed to be done. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and received an award for her many volunteer hours. Ellen was also helpful in driving other friends and family to hospital visits and doctor's appointments. Ellen is preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Tina Johnson; and her husband, Fred 'Ginger' Davis, on December 1, 1988. She is survived by: her son, Mike F. Davis of Centerville, Iowa; her sister, Freda Moore of Rockford, Illinois; and special friends, John Riggall and as well as Carrie Kaster of Indianola, Iowa and Brad Riggall and his family, she was especially fond of Brad's children. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 10:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Per, Ellen's wishes, she has donated her body to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of Iowa City, Iowa for scientific research. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 1:00 pm till 8:00 pm at the funeral home, with the family being present from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm.Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church of Unionville, Iowa or the Hospital Auxiliary.
