Elizabeth (Richardson) Moore passed away May 23, 2013, at Westview Acres Care Center in Leon, Iowa. She was born on July 23, 1924, in Carlisle, Iowa, to John William and Minnie Ola (Wells) Richardson. She joined eight brothers and was later joined by a sister and another brother. She lived in Carlisle and Knoxville areas for several years as well as the Melrose area before moving to Corydon. From there, they moved to Seymour in 1940, where she lived until moving to Westview Acres Care Center in Leon in December 2010. From the time the family moved to Seymour, her older brother Roy served as a primary caregiver for his brothers and sisters. Elizabeth graduated in 1944 from Seymour High School. On June 6, 1948, Elizabeth married Wayne Robert Moore at the Seymour Methodist Church. To this union three children were born. On August 16, 1950, their only daughter, Terry Lee, was born. She passed away on December 14, 1950, of complications of pneumonia. Their first son, Rickey Wayne, was born on February 5, 1952. Finally, on May 1, 1956, their second son, Robin Dee, was born. After the birth of her children, Elizabeth spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning, and was an avid bowler. Elizabeth always said the highlight of her life was her 'grandpeople' and great-grandpeople.' She especially loved the saying, 'If I knew grandkids were so great, I would have had them first.' On January 30, 1996, after 48 years of marriage, Wayne passed away after a lengthy illness. Also preceding Elizabeth in death were her parents, John and Minnie Ola Richardson; daughter, Terry Lee; brothers, Trigg, Roy, Harold, Verle, Bruce, John, Karl, George, and Alan; and sister Velda. Left to mourn her passing include sons Rick (Barb) Moore of Seymour and Robin (Michelle) Moore of Eddyville; grandchildren Diane (Ray) Yenzer of Leon, Cindy (Mike) Bartels of Promise City, Becki Moore (Bryan Kratzer) of Des Moines, Adam Moore of Des Moines, Ashly Moore of California, and Blaire and Jatin Moore of Eddyville. Great-grandchildren include Cody Cox (Amanda Waddell) of Moberly, Missouri, Colton and Caylee Schmidt of Leon, Whitney Jellison of Corydon, and Miranda Bartels of Promise City; step-great-grandchildren Andrew and Allison Yenzer of Des Moines and great-great granddaughters, Karsyn and Karleigh Merritt. Also left to mourn her passing include her sisters-in-law Marianna (Bill) Dodson of Tucson, Arizona, Arlette Moore of Corydon, Helen Rae Slawson of Corydon and Jean Richardson of Sac City; special cousin Doreen Jacobs of Ashland, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
