Elbert I. Mullin's Obituary
Elbert ""Moon"" Mullin, age 91 of Centerville, Iowa passed away December 1, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Elbert was born on the family farm south of Centerville, Iowa on November 24, 1918, the son of Ethan and Martha (Peters) Mullin. He grew up in Moulton, Iowa. Elbert joined the United States Army, serving in Africa and Italy during World War II. Upon ending his military duties, Elbert returned to the United States and was awarded the Purple Heart for his courageous actions.
Elbert spent many years farming on his farm south of Moulton. In his free time he enjoyed playing pool and spending time with family and friends. He loved children. Elbert was a member of the Moulton American Legion.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernon, Vester, and Hugh Mullin; and two sisters, Ethel Kendall, and Elba Arnold.
Funeral services with military rites will be held 2 PM, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kristopher Wattelet officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Friday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM.. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to either the Moulton American Legion or the Sunset View Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
