Elaine Louise Stevens' Obituary
Elaine Louise Stevens, age 81 of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2008 in Colorado. She was born the daughter of Guy and Winnie (Veach) Blue on May 25, 1927 on the family farm in Putnam County, Missouri. She graduated from the Livonia Community High School in Livonia, Missouri in 1944.On September 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Tom H. Stevens in Centerville, Iowa. They lived in Iowa City, Iowa for over 20 years, where they raised their family. They moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1972. Elaine worked for St. Vrain Valley Schools from 1972 until she retired in 1991. Finding that retirement wasn't for her, she volunteered in the gift shop at the Longmont Hospital, and loved every minute of it. She enjoyed traveling the last few years with her husband in their RV and was a big fan of the Broncos and Rockies.Elaine was a very caring person, loving her family very much, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a loving mother, and was very close to the friends she met during the 19 years she worked for the school. Elaine was member of the Lifebridge Christian Church. She was preceded in death by: her parents, a sister, Beulah in infancy, brothers, Basil Blue; a very dear niece, Debbie Chrisman, also in infancy; brother-in-law, Don Dailey.Elaine is survived by: her husband of over 60 years, Tom Stevens of Longmont, Colorado; sons, Jim Stevens of Longmont, Colorado and Michael Stevens and his wife, Christy of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Pamela Stevens of Los Banos, California; three grandchildren, Travis Stevens and his fianc' Darcie Hutzell of Iowa City, Iowa, Alexis Elaine Galvan and her husband, Thomas of Merced, California and Kaleb Neergaard of Los Banos California; great grandchildren, Mickenna Kay Galvan and Cash Bradford Galvan both of Merced, California; sisters, Katie Daily of Cincinnati, Iowa and Jackie Chrisman and her husband, Aaron of Greentop, Missouri.Graveside Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 10 AM at the Hilltown Cemetery south of Moulton, Iowa.
