Elaine Luse's Obituary
Elaine Luse, age 76, of Moravia, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Oakwood Specialty Care.
Elaine was born on March 27, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Betty (Bainbridge) Harrington. She attended Unionville Schools until 6th grade, then she finished her education at Moravia Community Schools, graduating with the Class of 1965. In high school, Elaine was an outstanding guard on the basketball team, earning some all-state honors.
On December 5, 1965, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, G.E. Luse. To this union, two children were born, Julie Ann and Jodi Kay.
In the over 58 years of marriage, Elaine and G.E. enjoyed going to Nascar races and Hawkeye football games, as well as many other extended travels and vacations.
Elaine's greatest joy was her family going to all the girls' activities. Then, going to many of the grandkids' activities even as her health began to fail, she insisted that G.E. take her to all the events.
Left to cherish Elaine's memory are her husband, G.E. Luse; her children, Julie (Jeff) Major and Jodi (A.J.) Peterson; five grandchildren, Chelsey (Tony) Kaster, Mallory (A.J.) Johnson, Abby (Ryan) Sponsler, Grace Peterson, and Gabe Peterson; five great grandchildren, Hawkins, Henric, Maxyn, Porter and Henley; three siblings, Phillip (Barb) Harrington, Dave (Peggy) Harrington, and Brian (Linda) Harrington; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Richard "Storm" and Betty Harrington; her maternal grandparents, John and Marie Bainbridge; her paternal grandparents, Paul and Myrtle Harrington; her aunt Janice; her aunt Gerry; her Uncle John; and her Uncle Bob.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home in Moravia, with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moravia with the family greeting friends from 10:00AM-12:00PM.
