Edwin Poole's Obituary
Edwin Duane Poole, 88 of Seymour passed away peacefully, Monday, August 10, 2015 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab. Edwin was born in Decatur County on April 6, 1927 to Alame & Charlotte (Hullinger) Poole. Edwin was a veteran of the United States Army Corps serving from 1954-1955 during the Korean War. After serving his country, Edwin came home and married Geraldine Harlan on June 1, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa. Edwin spent the majority of his life farming. He loved working out on his farm and taking care of the animals that roamed throughout the place. When he wasn't farming, he spent as much time as possible with his family. Edwin loved watching his grandchildren grow through the years. Edwin was a member of the Russell E. Marshall American Legion Post #68 in Corydon. Survivors include two children: Carole Sue Schultz (Don) of Promise City, Kevin Poole (Tammy) of Seymour, seven grandchildren: Nathan, Melissa, Stephanie Schultz, Mashala & Jace Poole and Lacey Devore (Brandon), two great grandchildren: Addison & Hunter Devore. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by his wife Geri, grandson, Donnie Schultz, brother, Carl Poole and two sisters; Hazel Hembry and Opal Blevins. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour with military rites performed by Russell E. Marshall American Legion Post #68. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family and condolences may be shared at www.thomasrandolphfh.com.
