Edna "Gwen" Murrell's Obituary
Edna Gwen Murrell, age 98, of Bloomfield, Iowa and a former Moulton, Iowa resident, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield. She was born the daughter of Edward and Oda (Maize) Lambert on September 5, 1913 in Kirksville, Missouri. She graduated from the Kirksville High School in 1932.On September 23, 1934, Gwen was united in marriage to Carl Murrell in Kirksville, Missouri. In 1939, the couple moved to a farm near Moulton, Iowa where they farmed together until their retirement and moved into Moulton. Gwen loved going for rides in the country, the fall leaves and in the spring, looking for the first robin. She was a member of the Moulton Christian Church.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Carl Murrell on February 25, 1993; and a brother, Paul Lambert.Gwen is survived by: a brother, Leon M. Lambert of Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 1 pm at the Moulton Christian Church with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Davis & Wapello Counties and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
