Edison Wendland's Obituary
Edison (Big Ed) Wendland, age 68 of Mystic died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
Ed was born, December 12, 1937 the son of Darrel and Geneva (Deahl) Wendland in Exline, Iowa. He moved to Mystic, Iowa when he was seven years old and graduated from Mystic High School. He joined the US Navy in 1956 and served for four years active duty and two years inactive. Ed married Martha Jean Heck on June 25, 1960 in Glendale, CA. He owned a rock and semi truck and hauled for Dusablon, Joe Zaputil, All American Transport Service and Food Liner. In later years he drove a school bus for Centerville Schools and drove the food service van. Ed is a member of the Nazarene Church in Centerville, Iowa.
Ed is survived by his wife, Martha; six children, Jeffrey (Lorraine) Wendland of Centerville, Rhonda (Carl Mike) Pulis of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Lora (Jim) Condra of Mystic, Iowa, David (Tracy) Wendland of Mystic, Iowa, Dottie (Lance) Varner of Emerson, Iowa and Tom (Sarah) Wendland of Mystic, Iowa; one sister, Vera (James) Osborne of Keosauqua, Iowa; one brother John (Pam) Wendland of Mystic, Iowa; and sixteen grandchildren, Derrick, Brandon, Joni, Jennifer, Thomas, Jeffrey, Michael, Joshua, Tiffany, Joey, Nicholas, Corey, Christopher, Clarisa, Caylee, and Timothy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Geneva (Deahl) Wendland.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Church of the Nazarene, Centerville with Pastor Walter King officiating. Friends may call all day Monday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with the family present from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa.
