Edgar Johnson's Obituary
Edgar Johnson, age 90, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Dade and Minnie (Robbins) Johnson on December 4, 1918 in Cincinnati, Iowa. He received his education in a Rural Appanoose Country School.On December 10, 1938, Edgar was united in marriage to Wilma H. Simmons in Moravia, Iowa. They owned the Johnson Furniture Store in Centerville, Iowa from 1951 till 1981. Edgar always had a story or a magic treat to share with his customers and friends. He was a Charter Member of the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Wilma Johnson on August 17, 2007; son, Jerry Lee Johnson; grandson, Teddy Johnson; brothers, Edward, Albert and Walter Johnson; sisters, Anne Whalen and Addie Belle Fox.Edgar is survived by: his sons, Louie Johnson of Centerville, Iowa and Gerald Johnson and his wife, Kahla of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Louise Agan and her husband, Dallas of Buffalo, Iowa, Dixie Skipper and her husband, Jerry of Niotaze, Kansas, Vera Johnson of Eldridge, Iowa and Debbie Clayworth and her husband, Jesse of Centerville, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; daughter-in-laws, Chieko Stroud and Karen Johnson both of Centerville, Iowa.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 10 am at the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kristopher Wattletet officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2009 from 2 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Solid Rock Church of God and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
