Earnestine "Tina" Rockhold's Obituary
Earnestine Erie Rockhold, "Tina" to her friends and family, passed away on January 22, 2019 at the age of 77 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Tina was born on March 9, 1941 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Earnest and Toma Ray Garton. She graduated from Gruver High School in Gruver, Texas. After graduation, Tina received training to be a Lab and X-Ray technician. Tina was working at the hospital in Leon when a handsome gentleman from Lineville asked her to go waterskiing. That date at Lake Marie would be the beginning of a beautiful love story that would last the next 52 years. Tina was united in marriage to Ivan "Jr" Rockhold on February 17, 1967. Jr and Tina moved to Corydon in 1968. Tina spent the next several years being a wife and mother to their four children: Chuck, Rick, Dawna, and Kristina. Tina was an avid gardener, bird watcher, Hawkeye fan and bargain shopper. She loved the mountains and taking spontaneous trips with her husband Jr. Tina also enjoyed volunteering her time to the Drug Assistance Program at the Wayne County Hospital. Her greatest love was her family. Tina was preceded in death by her parents: Earnest and Toma Ray Garton and her in-laws: Ivan & Mary Rockhold. She is survived by her loving husband, Ivan "Jr" Rockhold; her children: Chuck (Jane) Collier, Rick Rockhold, Dawna (Chris) Curry and Kristina (Blake) Chapman; her six granddaughters: Lindsey (Eric) Dietz, Lauren (Ryan) Young, Josie Curry, Kenzie Patton, Taylor Curry and Callie Chapman; two great-granddaughters: Emilia and Emery; her two brothers: Tom (Leota) Garton and Darrill (Pam) Garton; her brother-in-law, Bob (Betty) Rockhold as well as many, much loved, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at the Corydon Cemetery.
