Dwight L. Pfannebecker's Obituary
Dwight Pfannebecker, age 61 of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday morning, August 31, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 25, 1953 in Centerville, Iowa to Ralph Eugene and Fanchen Jean (Minnick) Pfannebecker. Dwight lived on a farm west of Walnut City, Iowa until the age of five when the Pfannebecker Family relocated one mile southwest of Udell, Iowa where Dwight would live until his high school graduation from Moulton Udell High School in 1971. While in high school Dwight was active in sports, including baseball and basketball.
Following high school, Dwight moved to Chicago where he was employed with General Electric for a brief period. He also drove a truck, worked on the railroad and in logging with his cousin Gary Dean Pfannebecker before becoming a self employed carpenter. Dwight has spent many years working in carpentry.
Dwight was united in marriage to Debbie Norton August 9, 1974 and to this union of marriage a daughter was born, Shane Michelle Pfannebecker. They would later divorce. In 1975 Dwight met his life companion, Julie Cardani, and to this union their daughter Kaysie Lin Cardani-Pfannebecker was born. Dwight always took exceptional care of Julie and continued to be by her side up to her passing on November 4, 2005.
Dwight loved being around people and was often heard telling ""a story"" to friends and family. He was a creature of habit and would spend his mornings eating breakfast and engaging in conversation with others at Joe's Quick Shop in Centerville. His lunch was often spent at Ted and Vickie Clark's. Sunday mornings were spent eating breakfast with his cousin, Joel Morrow.
He didn't miss many auction sales that took place in Appanoose County. Dwight never missed helping out at the Appanoose County Fair, especially his much needed assistance with Kaysie, Maddie and the Sulser's pigs. In earlier years he enjoyed helping his nieces Tanya, Jana and Stacy with their cattle and various fair projects.
Dwight always expressed his loving support for his daughter Kaysie. He never missed her activities and especially enjoyed watching her high school softball games. Moreover, he continued to watch the Centerville Redettes play even after Kaysie graduated from high school. It should be noted that Dwight loved spending time with Kaysie's friends.
One of Dwight's proudest moments as a father came on May 9, 2014 when Kaysie graduated with her bachelor's degree in Business Finance from Iowa State University.
Dwight was also employed with Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. He assisted with visitations, funerals, casket transportation, building maintenance and monument work. Most importantly, Dwight was a close friend to the Lange Family.
He was also a proud fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed watching NASCAR in his free time.
He is survived by two daughters, Shane Pfannebecker of Des Moines, Iowa and Kaysie Lin Cardani-Pfannebecker of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandchildren, Troy and Tracy Morgan of Des Moines; two brothers, Derrill (Marge) Pfannebecker of Centerville and Dan Pfannebecker of Denison, Iowa; two sister-in-laws, Reta (Don) Havard of Moravia and Debbie McConville of Centerville; a brother-in-law, Michael (Misty Rosenberg) Cardani of Centerville; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jackson.
