Dwight L. White Obituary's Obituary
Dwight LeRoy White, 84 of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Bloomfield Care Center. Dwight was born to Glenn & Anna(Gray) White on September 23, 1926 in Centerville. He received his education from Albia High School in 1944. He would continue his education at Iowa State University graduating in 1954 in Animal Science. Dwight was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He married Ruth Dohrmann on December 29, 1957 in Hampton, Iowa. Dwight was a member of 4-H, Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Davis County Sheep Producers, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed being a farmer and working with sheep, cattle, and crops and raising Border Collies. During college he was on both the Livestock and Meats judging team. He started his career working for Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, then farmed in partnership for 5 years near Knoxville. In 1965 he began farming near Bloomfield. He was a salesman for Garst Seed Corn, judged sheep shows at various County and State Fairs and the Chicago International Livestock Exposition. Dwight also enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Dwight is survived by his wife, Ruth White of Bloomfield, three children; Tom White of Belknap, Lynn Blanchard(Wes) of Indianola, Laurie Kruzich(John) of Nevada, seven grandchildren; KaLeigh White of Cedar Falls, Seth White of Ottumwa, Adam, Daniel and Anna Blanchard of Indianola, Austin and Allison Kruzich of Nevada, and a sister Carolyn Manning(Ralph) of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David White and his brother Richard White. A memorial service will be held 2PM, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Centerville Hospice of Central Iowa or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bloomfield.
