Dwight Allen Brown's Obituary
Dwight Allen Brown, 69 of Seymour, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 in his home in rural Seymour. Dwight was born on October 4, 1951 to Glenn B. Brown and Edith (Condra) Brown. He grew up in rural Appanoose county and attended Seymour Community School, making lifelong friends. Dwight graduated in 1969 and attended Indian Hills Community College, earning his AA. In 1971, Dwight married Darlene Jimerson of Unionville, Missouri. To this union came three children, Sara, Elizabeth and Katie. The couple later divorced. In 1995, Dwight welcomed a daughter, Abby. From a young age, Dwight farmed with his dad and grandad. After their passing, Dwight continued to farm in Seymour, Numa, Promise City and Cincinnati for many years. He had a unique ability to solve and create contraptions most would have never thought possible. In 1983 he opened Brown's Repair and was tremendously talented. He helped family, friends and neighbors, and was quickly regarded as the "Best Diesel Mechanic" in southern Iowa. Dwight enjoyed working on tractors, combines and farm equipment, especially International pull tractors. Later, he worked for the USPS until he retired in 2010. Dwight spent his retirement piddling around the farm, reloading ammunition, watching NASCAR. He looked forward to good conversation with family and friends and never turned down a good argument. He continued to live on his farm east of Seymour until his passing. Dwight is survived by his children, Sara Brown (RW Smith) of Newton, Iowa, Elizabeth Conn (Jeremy Barber) of Centerville, Katie McDanel (Bryan McDanel) of Monroe, Iowa and Abby Brown (Jacob Vestal) of Livonia, Missouri; step-children, Justin Jones, Sarah Jones, Eric Jones and Brittany Jones; grandchildren, Jeffery and Ellen McDanel. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn B. Brown and Edith (Condra) Brown.
