Duffy Kester's Obituary
Duffy Kester, 73, of Allerton passed away on April 26, 2020 at the Wayne County Hospital. Duffy was born to Rupert and Doris (Lovinger) Kester on March 28, 1947 in Missoula, Montana. He graduated from Stevensville High School in 1965 and then went on to receive a two year college degree. He served in the United States Navy in Vietnam on a dry dock. He also served in the Naval Reserves until 1973. Duffy's occupation was as a professional fire fighter for the Missoula Montana Fire Department. He retired from the fire department as a Battalion Chief. Duffy was married to Margaret Vinzant and together they made their home in Allerton where they raised Red Angus cattle, sheep and goats. He was a past President of the Wayne County Farm Bureau and was also a Wayne County Supervisor for many years. Duffy never knew a stranger and he loved to visit. He enjoyed teasing people and giving then a hard time, always expecting it back in return. He was a good man but he did not suffer fools gladly. He was as content with his animals as he was with people. His favorite time of the day was when he would take his dog Annie to Casey's for a cookie which they always shared. His smile will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Margaret Kester, sister Mary Mae Hill, brother Jack Kester (Karen), brother Jim Kester, many nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 11 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon (the family will not be present). Funeral service will be on Friday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. There will be a visitation (family will be present) one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the service at Thomas Shane Cemetery.
