Doyle Scott's Obituary
Doyle Emerson Scott, 95, passed away on July 11, 2012 at the Corydon Nursing & Rehab Center. Doyle was born October 23, 1916, in Wayne County, Iowa to Nina Pearl (Markley) and Arlie Emerson Scott. Doyle attended country schools and graduated from Corydon High School. He taught country school for a few years before entering the army during World War II. He served in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a radio operator in the intelligence branch. He was always very proud of his military service. Throughout his life, he would display his army jacket in his home three times a year, his birthday, December 7th and the day he was mustered out. After leaving the army, he came back to Wayne County and started a hog buying station with his father and brothers. He participated in raising thousands of hogs through the years. Doyle retired from farming in the fall of 1997. Doyle is survived by one sister, Floreine Frye, two nephews, Dennis Scott and Steven Frye, and seven nieces, Darlene Nantz, Carol Beets, Susie Mackey, Shirley Marley, Mary Jo Reid, Deanna Schall, and Linda DeBolt. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dale and Dean, and two sisters, Madge Fenton and Bernice Carr, and one nephew, Jerry Frye.
