Doyle Waldo Roberts' Obituary
Doyle Waldo Roberts, son of George and Leatha (Cooper) Roberts, was born February 26, 1923. He passed away June 11, 2015 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center. Doyle grew up south of Harvard, Iowa, and attended Jackson Center County School. He farmed most of his life. Doyle worked for the Thomas High Class Grocery Store, Shivvers, and Pester's Gas Station, and he drove for Jones Dairy. He moved to town in 1998 and then to the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center in 2009. Doyle married Wilma Sowders on November 21, 1942. Born to this union were four children: Carolyn Kay, Larry Leslie, Ronnie Lee, and Dennis Dale. Preceding him in death were his daughter Carolyn Kay (1943); wife Wilma (1975); son Larry Leslie (1995); parents George and Leatha Roberts; sister Edna; brother Gerald and wife Christine; brother-in-laws and sister-in law Leslie Sowders, Wilbur and Margaret Sowders, and LE Sowders; nephew Stephen Roberts; great nephew Eric Roberts; and great niece Jessica Vaughn. Doyle leaves to mourn his passing sons, Ronnie (Nancy) Roberts and Dennis (Katherine) Roberts, grandchildren Jason (Emilie) Roberts, Christopher (Rebecca) Roberts, Lucas (Natalie) Roberts, Nicholas (Katrina) Roberts, and Katrina (Britt) Cleveland, great grandchildren Hudson Roberts, Mila Roberts, Adam Roberts, Charlotte Cleveland, Crosby Cleveland, Camille Cleveland, and step-granddaughter Joella Hanes. Doyle was a quiet man who enjoyed listening to conversations in the restaurants and in the dining room of the care center. He will be missed. Graveside service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 17th at the Shriver Cemetery with Jill Leivick officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, June 16th at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later time.
