Doyle Clinkenbeard's Obituary
Doyle Clinkenbeard, 84, passed away on March 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Doyle was born on October 3, 1932, in Moulton, Iowa, to the late Laurel and Cora (Horn) Clinkenbeard. After graduating Moulton High School in 1949, Doyle joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for three years, including serving as a veteran of the Korean War. After being discharged, Doyle worked as a carpenter and truck driver. He also worked at a saw mill and assisted with building the tower at the Rathbun Dam. He married Oreleta Walker on August 18, 1964. In his spare time, Doyle enjoyed: camping, traveling, woodworking, ceramics, making clocks, morning coffee at McDonald's, and NASCAR races. He was a state commander of Amvets, a member of Sad Sacks, and a life member of the American Legion; where he served as post commander from 1979-2007. Doyle is survived by three stepsons: Tom Lenig (Janet) of Seymour, John Lenig (Terri) of Winterset, and Chuck Lenig (Becky) of Centerville; two stepdaughters: Doris Benz-Voss (Gary) of Melrose and Vicky Lenig; sister, Felva (Byron) Tait; special caregiver, Denise Shafer, and her two sons: Jonathan and Nathan as well as, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oreleta; daughter, Deanna Clinkenbeard; stepdaughter, Billie Lenig and his sister, Glenice Burns and great niece, Lizzie Freeborn. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset View Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials may be given to the Ray C.
