Douglas Conger, age 54 of Centerville, Iowa, died August 5, 2008 at Ottumwa Regional Hospital.
Douglas was born November 18, 1953, the son of Harold and Pauline (Vestal) Conger in Columbia, Missouri. He was raised by Frank and Ruth Golic. He married Patricia Lynn Davenport on December 31, 1985 at the Church of Christ in Centerville, Iowa. He worked as a Road Maintainer Operator for Appanoose County for 28 years. Douglas enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved Hawkeye football and collecting guns and knives. He attended the Drake Avenue Christian Church.
Douglas was survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Frank Conger of Centerville, Iowa; a daughter, Rachel Conger of Centerville, Iowa; stepchildren, Brad Mc Vey of Kirksville, Missouri, Grant Wilson of Houston, Texas and Helen Sykes; seven siblings, Sharon Andrew of Princeton, Missouri, Darrell Astelle of Waterloo, Iowa, Stan Astelle of Grinnell, Iowa, Suzette Dotson of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Keith Houser of Columbia, Missouri, Larry Golic of Centerville, Iowa, and Gary Golic of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and Frank and Ruth Golic his aunt and uncle, who took him to raise at a very young age.
