Dot Stickler's Obituary
Dot Stickler, age 64, of Centerville, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 at her home.
Dot was born on January 7, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Oral and Cecile (Corder) Ford. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1972. She eventually continued her education at Indian Hills Community College, graduating with the Class of 2001. Following High School, Dot married Dennis Gardner in March of 1972. To this union, their daughters, Kristy and Julie were born. They were later divorced. She was united in marriage to Gerald E. Stickler on June 3, 1983 in Appanoose County.
Dot enjoyed scrapbooking. She loved going on vacations with her daughter and grandchildren. She had a passion for working with children. Dot put her heart and soul into working at the Clubhouse, which was her daycare that she owned and operated for 16 years. She was very fond of her dogs, who she seen as her children. She was also a devoted member of the Lighthouse Church of The Nazarene in Moravia.
Left to cherish Dots memory are her daughter, Julie Clark of Centerville; her step children, Gary (Edwina) Stickler of Numa, and Kim (Scott) Clayberg of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Keenan (Lindsey Keeney) McClure, Brady Clark, Levi Clark, Beth Burgin, Bud Stickler, Sammie Sebolt, T.J. Sebolt, and Brooke Sebolt; several step great grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Ford, Gene (Mary) Ford, and Billy Harvey; step sisters, Berniece Decker and Katie Efaw; a niece, Penny Fessler, along with several other nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Dennis Gardner; Brother-in-law Dick (Bev) Stickler; Sisters in law, Paula Stickler, Marilyn Stickler, Mary (Merrill)Porter, Joani (Don)DeGrott; as well as her two beloved dogs, Gizmo and Bandit.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Stickler; her parents, Oral and Cecile Ford; a daughter, Kristy Gardner; two brothers, Robert Harvey and James Harvey; a sister, Betty Ann Baxter; a step sister, Dorothy Lauck; a sister in law, Teresa Ford; and brothers in law, Joe and Ralph Stickler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa. A visitation will take place Monday, December 17, 2018, at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00PM.
