Dorthy "Dottie" Evelyn Knutson's Obituary
Dorothy "Dottie" Evelyn Knutson, known as the lady with the beautiful red lips, age (95), of Seymour, passed away September 15, 2025 at her home.
Dottie was born in Tennessee on December 13, 1929, the daughter of Jewell and Mary (Dodd) Parsley. She met the love of her life, Fredrick L. Knutson on January 8, 1959. Eight days later on January 16, 1959, Dottie and Fredrick were united in marriage. At this time, Fredrick gained four bonus children, Sharron, Gloria, Pamela and Beverley. To this union, a daughter was born, Veronika.
Dottie held many job positions throughout her life. Several places that she worked for, had no idea that she didn't have a degree from college, but she was still amazing at it. In her younger years, Dottie was a nurse for some time, and was known for giving quick and easy shots. In her later years, she returned to the nursing field, taking care of the elderly in their homes and her home.
Dottie was a member of the Church of God in Seymour. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, quilting, crafting, sewing, embroidery, ceramics, cross stitching, making dolls and cooking. She continued to paint and quilt until she passed.
Left to cherish Dottie's memory are her children, Sharron Troccoli, Pamela Traynor, Beverley Mayfield, and Veronika Arnold; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Mary Parsley; her husband, Fredrick Knutson on September 13, 1999; her daughter, Gloria McClain; three sisters, Odell McCord, Della Patton, and Delilah Youngblood; and her brother, Marshal Paul Parsley.
Funeral services for Dottie will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Melvin Green officiating. Burial will take place at Promise City Cemetery following the service. Visitation will take place Friday, September 19, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
