Dorothy Marie Carter's Obituary
Dorothy "Skipper" Marie Carter, age 74, of Cincinnati went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on September 5, 1948 in Sullivan County, Missouri, the daughter of William Lewis Howard and Violet M (Handley) Howard.
Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed roller skating, fishing, bowling and pool among other various activities. The most important thing to Dorothy was spending time with family and friends- which she had a lot of. She wanted them to know how much she loved them and she would have moved mountains to help them. While she enjoyed many different activities, it was really about the bond she created with those around her.
Dorothy worked in a couple factories as a young adult. She later entered the nursing field as a CNA. She became a CNA because she had a passion for helping others. Dorothy worked at several nursing homes spanning over 20 years from 1996-2016, with her last employment being Golden Age Care Center. She thoroughly enjoyed working at Golden Age Care Center and loving on and taking care of all of the residents.
Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her children, Tina (Carl) Agan of Altoona, Edward "Buddy" (Christina) Fowler of Cincinnati, Barb (Rick) Lindsey of Prairie City, and Michelle (Jeremy) Dooley of Promise City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Fern and Shirley; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Kenny; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Violet Howard; a sister, Ada Mae; and six brothers, James, Raymond, Wayne, William, DeWayne, and Harold.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Lee Havemeier officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, near Promise City. Visitation will take place Friday, March 10, 2023, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 11:00AM-1:30PM.
