Dorothea Casady's Obituary
Dorothea Casady, 96, of Centerville, passed away on April 16, 2021 at Centerville Specialty Care. Dorothea was born on May 11, 1924 in Dean, Iowa to Elva and Jenny (Windblade) Ewing.
After graduating from Moulton-Udell High School, Dorothea received her teaching certificate and taught in a one room school house for a few years. She was united in marriage to Bernard Casady and to this union, one son, Warren was born.
Dorothea became the ultimate homemaker. She was a loving wife and devoted mother to her son and also provided care for her mother. She enjoyed the color pink, antiques, garage sales and a good auction.
Dorothea is survived by her nieces and nephews: Margery Davison (Tony Shriver), Marilyn (Kelly) Middleton, Raymond (Patti) Bennett, Chris (Tonya) Bennett, Natalie Stoessel and Matthew Ewing III. She is also survived by five grand nieces and nephews: Sarah and Becky Ewing, Bob (Rona) McGrann, Raymond Lee (Jana) Bennett and Matthew (Stacy) Bennett as well as several extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; son, Warren; brothers: John and Matthew Ewing II; sister, Jane Bennett; brother in law, Raymond Bennett; sister in law, Maxine Ewing and her nephew, Max Ewing.
Private graveside services will be held at Hilltown Cemetery at 2:00 on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Hilltown Cemetery in Moulton, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Margery Davison or Marilyn Middleton and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home at 501 N. 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
