Dorotha McGill's Obituary
Dorotha McGill, 103 of Centerville passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home. Dorotha was born to William & Gwendola (Cox) Burgin on July 6, 1916 in Dexter, Minnesota. She received her education from Buckeye High School in Buckeye, Iowa; graduating in 1934. Dorotha was united in marriage to Milton McGill on June 1, 1935 in Unionville, Missouri, he preceded her on August 26, 2003. To this union came four children: David, Mickal, Steven, and Janet. Dorotha was a member of First Baptist Church in Centerville and was baptized there on May 2, 2004, she also was a past 4-H leader and volunteer at the Appanoose County Fair. Dorotha enjoyed painting, gardening her flowers, cooking and baking holiday meals for her family, fishing and camping at the Iowa State Fair. Of course, Dorotha's greatest joy was her family. Survivors include three sons: David McGill (Shirley), Mickal McGill (Edith), Steven McGill (Valarie), 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, sister, Sally Bauer and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milton, daughter, Janet Anderson, brothers: Carl, Roy and Douglas Burgin, sister, Wanda Schaeffer and a cousin that was raised by her parents, Walter Burgin. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Higgins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Livingston Cemetery near Numa. Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 pm.
