Doris C. Zimmer's Obituary
Doris C. Zimmer, age 94, of Trenton, Missouri and a former Appanoose county resident, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her daughter's home in Trenton. She was born the daughter of Curtis and Eva (Kirby) Serry on August 31, 1914 in Chanute, Kansas. After the death of her father, (1915) she and her mother moved to the Moulton and Dean, Iowa area near her mother's family where she received her education.She lived in Southern Iowa, Northern, Missouri and Rock Island, Illinois during WWII. On January 10, 1937, Doris was united in marriage to Daniel L. 'Sug' Zimmer in Mystic, Iowa. She was a homemaker most of her life. She accepted Christ and was baptized in the Moulton Baptist Church at an early age and was most recently a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton, Missouri.She was preceded in death by: her parents; stepfather, Henry Havens; husband, Daniel L. 'Sug' Zimmer on March 21, 1980; son-in-law, Jimmy L. Noland and a great granddaughter, Desiree Huff.Doris is survived by: her daughter, Nellie A. Noland of Trenton, Missouri; sons, Henry D. Zimmer of Wheeling, Missouri and Danny L. Zimmer and his wife, Roberta of Princeton, Missouri; grandchildren, Jimmy Noland and his wife, Sandy of Holt, Missouri, Vicki Rice and her husband, Todd of St. Joseph, Missouri, Cindy Pearce and her husband, Sheldon of Savannah, Missouri, Christa Hendricks and her husband, Craig of Trenton, Missouri, Jeremy Zimmer of Kirksville, Missouri, J. Drew Zimmer and his wife, Rebecca of Kirksville, Missouri, Bob Zimmer of Chillicothe, Missouri and Debbie Huff of Chillicothe, Missouri; as well as fifteen great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with her son, Danny L. Zimmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9 am till the time of services at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Trenton Hospice and may be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
