Doris Yates' Obituary
Doris Norene Yates was born November 14, 1922 in Coal City, Iowa and passed away on January 14, 2018 at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Blue) Marvin. At the age of two, she made her home with her great uncle Hardin and great aunt Emma Guinn with whom she lived until her marriage on December 24, 1941 to Roland 'Dub' Yates. To this union, four sons were born. At the age of 17, Norene was baptized at the Hilltown Christian Church. She was a teacher in the rural schools at the time of her marriage. Besides teaching, she worked for Sylvania Electric Company and as a clerk at the Moulton Post Office for 18 years where she retired in December of 1984. Norene is survived by three sons: Marvin, of Moody, Texas, Gary, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mike, of Stanwood, Iowa; one brother, Jack, of Centerville, Iowa; two sisters: Freda of Mechanicsville, Iowa and Lucene of Newton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her son, Leroy, of Cedar Rapids; her great uncle Hardin and great aunt Emma Guinn as well as two brothers, Harold and Mardell. Memorial services and interment will take place later this spring.
