Doris Lucille Swan's Obituary
Doris 'Lucille' Swan, age 85, of Seymour, Iowa, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at Continental Care Center in Seymour. She was born the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Schwitzky) Kahle on September 6, 1925 in Lone Elm, Missouri. She graduated from the Bunceton High School in Bunceton, Missouri.On February 21, 1948, Lucille was united in marriage to Harold R. Swan in Lone Elm, Missouri. She worked for a time at the Missouri State Patrol and then after moving to Seymour, Iowa, began working as a Secretary for the Seymour Community Schools. She was a active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centerville, Iowa.She loved to read and collect news articles, as well as playing cards, making chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and tending to her garden. She also enjoyed the family camping trips to Lake Thunder Head. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Harold R. Swan on March 17, 2009; brothers, Leon, Leroy and Eugene Kahle; and a sister, Nadine Brickner.Lucille is survived by: her daughter, Eileen and her husband, Raymond Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa; and a son, David and his wife, Genie Swan of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Will and his wife, Dehlia Swan of New Londen, Connecticut, Luke Swan of Memphis, Tennessee, Brian and his wife, Lisa Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa, Jeff and his wife, Brenda Anderson of Neola, Iowa and Abigail Swan of Memphis, Tennessee; and five great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kahle of Warsaw, Missouri.Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11 am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kathryn Franzenburg officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9 am until the time of services.Memorials can be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
