Doris Levis' Obituary
Doris Levis, 97, of Corydon, passed away on June 21, 2020 at Wayne County Hospital. Doris was born on October 4, 1922 in St. Johns, Missouri to Arthur and Alice (Hammond) Zimmerman. She was a 1940 graduate of Sewal High School. On May 1, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Howard Levis in Unionville, Missouri. Howard and Doris farmed for many years around the Sewal, Iowa area. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, word searches, peanut butter cookies, spoiling her grandchildren (especially with candy!) and watching her game show network. She also attended Corydon Bible Church for several years. Doris is survived by her daughter, Betty (Richard) Couchman; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Levis; sister, Avenell Alley; grandchildren: Sheila (Scott) Gipson of Beach City, Texas, Sherri (Adam) Schmidt of Cedar Falls, Iowa and granddaughters-in-law: Carrie Levis of Blythedale, Missouri and Angie Couchman of Sewal, Iowa. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Brooke (Francisco) Carrillo of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Jessica Levis of Cherry Point, North Carolina but currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Megan Levis of Corydon, Gage Levis and Klint Stark of Lineville, Iowa, Mitchell and Madison Bower and Peyton Schmidt of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Kaitlyn, Erynn and Miley Couchman of Sewal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; son, Jimmy Levis; grandsons: Mike Levis and Scott Couchman; great grandson, Ryan Gipson and sisters: Alpha Hickerson, Verda Burkland and Mildred Parker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Corydon Bible Church. Interment will immediately follow at Shriver Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Corydon Bible Church and online condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
