Doris Furnald's Obituary
Doris Furnald, age 84 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Doris was born on May 24, 1930 in Tracy, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna ""Elvira"" (Thompson) Angelo. She graduated from Tracy High School. Doris was united in marriage to Fred Furnald on August 4, 1948 in Oskaloosa. To this union of marriage, three children were born, Angie, Timothy and Patrick.
Doris was employed in the healthcare field for many years. She worked for Tower Park Residential Care in Oskaloosa for over twenty years, first as a nurse's aide and later, as a licensed practical nurse. Obtaining her LPN was a great accomplishment for Doris. She later worked as a LPN for a brief period of time at both the Golden Age and Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
She loved watching major league baseball on the television, especially the Cincinnati Reds. Johnny Bench always topped the list as Doris' favorite ball player. Doris also loved cats and reading, especially her bible. Moreover, she took pleasure in cooking for family and friends. Doris was known for making a wonderful, yet spicy, homemade enchilada. Most importantly, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Doris was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Centerville.
Doris is survived by her three children, Angie (Ron) Creagan of Centerville, Iowa, Timothy (Melva) Furnald of Seymour and Patrick (Frances) Furnald of Knoxville, Tennessee; ten grandchildren, Greg (Jerlyn) Inman of Moulton, Iowa, Cindy Creagan of Ottumwa, Iowa, Brenda (Eric) Fry of Centerville, Iowa, Shawna (Chris) Fortune of Hamilton, Iowa, Crissy (Justin) Rodden of Clarksdale, Tennessee, Jessica (Mark) Waits of Moulton, Iowa, Rachael (Jeff) Furnald of Centerville, Iowa, Elizabeth, Guy, and Nickel Furnald; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Angelo of Missouri; and two sisters, Aline Crispen of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Louise McKinney of Knoxville, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna ""Elvira"" Angelo; her husband, Fred Furnald; two grandchildren, Kimberly Jellison and Mark Inman; and a sister, Wilma Gearry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Assembly of God Church in Centerville with Rev. Brad Dittmer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the family and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
