Doris Drummond's Obituary
Doris Ruth Forsythe Drummond, age 84 of Centerville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Doris was born January 20, 1931, at Soap Creek in Unionville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raymond Forsythe and Nina Waite. She graduated from Donnellson High and went to Beauty School in Burlington. She was united in marriage to Lowell Drummond on January 7, 1978 in Azen, Missouri. Doris was a member of St. Josephs Mercy Hospital Auxiliary since 1977, where she was past president twice. She was the District Representative of District F for two years; Care Review Committee member at CHM for five years; She sat on the Limited Learning Committee at Indian Hills Community College; Welcome Wagon; Member of the First Baptist Church and Choir participant and volunteer singer. She was well known for her green thumb, her cooking, and her baking. She was a member of the International League of Upholstery Craftsman at Indian Hills Community College, and did Upholstery in her home for several years. She worked at Mercy Medical Center in long term care as Activity Coordinator where she last worked and retired from. She loved many things in her life. Family and friends were very important to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, children, and the neighborhood kids. She would always have cookies ready for all of them. Most of all, she loved to talk.
Doris is survived by her children, Dwight (Lorie) Best of Adel, Steve (Kae) Morgan of Centerville, Terry (Shelly) Morgan of Osceola, Jerry (Becky) Morgan of Centerville, Debra (Darrell) Cabossart of Waukee, and Connie Rokey of Mooresville, North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Drummond; her parents, Raymond and Nina Forsythe; and her siblings, Dwain Forsythe, Ronald Forsythe and Wilda Faye Kirchner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Sharon Heien offficiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at Lange Funeral Home, with the family present from 6-8 PM. Interment will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery, Moulton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Appanoose County Historical Society and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
