Doris Culbertson's Obituary
Doris Culbertson, 98, formerly of Centerville, passed away on May 29, 2017 in Pella, Iowa. Doris was born on October 30, 1918 in Moulton, Iowa to the late Charles and Anna (Erickson) Benz. Doris was united in marriage to Clarence Culbertson on September 19, 1936 in Moline, Illinois and to this union, five children were born. Doris and Clarence farmed near Fairfield for a time. After, they would operate Culbertson Market and Grocery in Adair for several years and also owned the Red Rooster Grill in Iowa Falls. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed reading, playing cards, visiting family and also enjoyed her 50 winters spent in Texas. Doris is survived by her children: Donald J. Culbertson of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Robert A. Culbertson of The Villages, Florida, Dale A. (Carolyn) Culbertson of New Braunfels, Texas, Shirley Clifford of Pella, Iowa and Marjorie (Eugene) Smith of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; sister-in-law Edna Benz of Reynolds, Illinois; 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; 9 brothers, 2 sisters, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Culbertson and a son-in-law, Harold Knutson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Fairview Brethren Church. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
