Doris 'Fern' Casady, age 95, of Centerville, IA, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at the Mather Pavilion in Evanston, IL. She was born the daughter of Henry and Maude (Grindle) Stevens on May 8, 1908 in Dean, Iowa. She received her education in the Dean Community School in Dean, Iowa.Fern was united in marriage to Arthur Lee Casady on February 4, 1927 in Centerville, IA. She owned and operated the Casady Hardware in Centerville, IA with her husband for many years. She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, IA.Fern is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Arthur Lee Casady on July 15, 1970; one son, Charles Casady, one grandson, Calvin Casady and a brother, Dr. James F. Stevens.Surviving family members include: three grandchildren, Rhonda Lee Casady of Chicago, IL, Christopher A. Casady of Bloomington, IN and Teri Lynn Casady and her husband, David Waterman of Madison, WI; three great-grandchildren, Sean, Jonas and Kate Waterman and three half-brothers, Dale Stevens of Ottumwa, IA and Doyle and Tommy Stevens of Longmont, Colorado.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, IA with Pastor Kay Singley officiating.
