Donnie Millizer's Obituary
Donnie E. Millizer, age 76 of Plano, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville, Iowa.
Donnie was born on March 3, 1941 in Plano, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Anna (Morgan) Millizer. He graduated from Seymour High School.
Following high school, Donnie entered the United States Air Force on January 18, 1962. He served his country faithfully, receiving an honorable discharge on June 3, 1965.
Donnie was united in marriage to Carole Ashby on January 4, 1969 in Plano. In January of this year, the couple celebrated forty eight wonderful years together.
Post military service, Donnie accepted employment with Union Carbide in Centerville. Following 33 1/2 years of dedicated employment, he retired from Union Carbide/Viskase in 1999.
In Donnie's free time, he enjoyed watching sports, most notably, sporting events that his grandchildren participated in.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Millizer of Plano, Iowa; three children, Buddy (Tammy) Millizer of Centerville, Jay (Amanda) Millizer of Seymour, and Carrie (Brian) Strait of Paducah, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Hunter Millizer, Jaydon Millizer, Jozalyn Millizer, Alex Strait, Isaac Strait, Justin Sieren, and Hailey Sieren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Bill Millizer; and a sister, Sally Jo (Millizer) Atchley.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Crossroads Cemetery near Plano, Iowa. Following the service, friends and family are invited to join in a fellowship gathering at the Plano Christian Church Fellowship Hall in celebration of Donnie's life. Memorials have been established to the family of Donnie E. Millizer and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com. Lange Funeral Home in Centerville has been entrusted with caring for the family.
